1 year, 1 month later... [Sep. 25th, 2006|03:44 am]
So, much of the same has been going on. One motorcycle and new 2006 GTO later, I'm laying around the house jamming to Guitar Hero. The game only receives a 9.5/10 on the Beefmeter, for the noticeable lack of the Eric Clapton and Slowhand.

Flickr is my beeotchez [Aug. 28th, 2005|11:53 pm]
So I finally took 3 minutes and figured out Flickr, so sweet. For lack of anything better to put up, I'll post an unreadable scanned image of the window sticker from my car.

So like, don't spam the refresh button and use up all my bandwidth for the month :P I need something a little more permanent, reliable, and cheap (read: free) for the image storage.

It's Amazing [Aug. 24th, 2005|07:19 am]
So I was sitting around work in this nostalgia filled daydream when I remembered up this webgem. About a year ago this month the 1st shift PMMA production supervisor asked me to come take a look at her computer. It had just been upgraded from a NT workstation to XP with all the trimmings and Active Directory hook ups. So when I get there, she immediately starts yelling at me and demanding that I reactivate her spell checker in Outlook which she just *knows* that I disabled on purpose. Somewhat calmly, in a way only Beef can, I reply that I had no reason to disable her spell checker and didn't know what she was talking about. She pulls up Outlook and starts a new e-mail message, and is like "Watch, I type the word 'house' and no red wavy line shows up underneath it, which is correct." I confirm this. Then she continues, "I remove the 'u' from house to misspell it, and no red wavy line shows up! You bastard!" You must understand that by this point she is totally red in the face, spitting and screaming, way off the deep end. Despite this, I'm laughing so hard people are starting to stare at us, and she has this dumbfounded look on her face. I respond that she ended up spelling the word "hose" correctly and I ask her to put an extra "e" at the end of the word, causing said wavy line to appear when she does so. More hilarity ensues.

Anyway, I suppose this was a somewhat of a poor follow up to Zach's rant about education, which I mostly agree with pertaining to higher education (and it reminded me of this). This incident made me laugh as she obviously has no lower education or is just an idiot. This lady is in charge of people who make things that go into people's eyeballs. Remember that the next time you see your opthamologist and are diagnosed with cataracts.

I hope my employer's stock doesn't drop cause of this.

4-6-3 double play, with 3 diving for cover as the ball whizzes into the dugout [Aug. 22nd, 2005|08:56 pm]
So today begins the fall season of the Huntington Greater Parks and Recreation District's softball league. Once again I turn out to represent my employer on the field of battle, bringing with me all the mad softballing skills any half-drunken and bewildered coach could want. The grueling 78ยบ heat was devastating such that no amount of lemonade Gatorade could quench your thirst. Muscles were tearing and crying in pain from simple stretches learned in middle school gym class from Coach Meadows. The intenseness grew as the clock rolled closer to 6pm, and we counted the number of players in the other dugout...7. I called upon all my experiences from the dominating RMS Pro Finishes team of the early 90s to assuage my fears. A disturbing image of James Davisworth came to mind and ended all that nonsense. Would the other team have enough to play? We sweated it out for 15 minutes in despair, as this would dictate our outlook on the rest of the season, and if we would continue to have enough players to play ourselves. At last...ump called the game, we were victorious and 2-0 for the season! Life is good.

Home, James. [Aug. 16th, 2005|04:33 am]
More slaving under the capatalistic grind of America. I did manage to change the manual transmission oil in the Goat this morning, filling it up with some Royal Purple Synchromax. Good stuff, shift feels a little smoother, although the stock shifter is still a slight be notchy in the top gates and spongy in the bottom. All in all it's a good companion to the 75W-140 Royal Purple gear oil I had put in the differental, and 0W-40 Mobil 1 in the engine. It's probably all the same stuff but hey, ignorance is bliss.

While I was messin around the engine this morning, I took a look at my air filter. This involved pretty much taking the top half of the airbox off with the MAF and intake pipe attached to it leading to the throttle body. After pulling the fiter out and looking around, I decided what the hell, and took the entire airbox out. Had a nice big 3.75" to 4" hole in front of the box for the air inlet. Now that just can't do. So I found a 3" hole saw, threw it into a drill and made me three more holes, 2 in the side opposite the engine and one in front. Put it all back in, and there's a slight howl from the induction over 3500rpms. Now it just needs a new inlet pipe, that thing is way too narrow for my massive air intake needs.

Baaa [Aug. 12th, 2005|05:21 am]
So I've been working the late night shift (11pm-7am) at work now for a few weeks. I actually volunteered for it and really enjoy it as it's a unique opportunity. Sure, the daytime shift is when all the cool and six-figure people work, but to hell with them. The midnight shift sports about half the personnel of the dayshift, so with lower overall numbers and all other things being equal, there are fewer assholes and idiots as well. This is a good thing.

My work location consists of two buildings, a manufacturing building and an administration building--I work in the latter. During the midnight shift there are three people in this building...three. Myself, a label printer, and a janitor. As opposed to the daytime, when there's about 80 people here. People who think an awful lot of themselves. People who annoy me. People who get in my way and prevent me from doing a lot of my work on time.

So when my supervisor was saying something a couple months ago about needing AS/400 support for the late shift, I volunteered on the spot. Not only are there less assholes and dumbasses (see earlier), there is very little computer useage during this time so virtually no computer support is needed. This in turn allows me an uninterrupted 8 hours of doing nothing but getting my shit done. It's great. Plus, no managers or supervisors are around (especially in this building) to bug me and demand assistance in reading their e-mail. I've struck gold.

Anyway, the whole point in telling this story is to explain my situation today. Evelyn, the daytime computer operator, has decided to take today (Friday) off for a three day weekend. Lo and behold, as I'm on nights and the low man on the totem pole, I get to work this weird ass 5am-2pm shift today. Yes, it majorly screwed up my sleep so this weekend will probably be slept away so I can come back Sunday night at 11pm. Pretty much my entire sleep cycle and pleasantness of my weekends depends upon Evelyn's whims now, as she has seemingly three months of vacation time to take every year. She is such a frickin' hard hater. Hard.

Anyway I gave the goat a washin' yesterday. Soon as I figure out how to post pics (aka when I'm on nights again) I'll try to throw one up. Peace.

What's a blog? [Aug. 11th, 2005|02:14 am]
So I'm pretty much making this blog so I have something to do while at work. While I have lots of work to do, my procrastinating ways have not changed much since high school. At least this gives me something to do besides scouring ls1gto.

I'll probably just talk about my GTO an awful lot, as that's possibly my most cherished and beloved possession nowadays. This first post is mostly just a test post so I can do some formatting and the like. Later on!
